Fort Aguada
A 17th-century Portuguese fort built in 1612 to guard against the Dutch and Marathas. It houses the only freshwater spring in the area — "Aguada" means watering place. The fort offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea and the Mandovi river mouth. It's one of the most iconic monuments in Goa, with 79 cannons originally mounted on its walls. [citation:2]
